A used Mazda3 for sale is the kind of daily driver that has your back. Not only is this an impressively reliable car, but it has great handling, popular infotainment features, and a competitive price. It can also come as a sedan or a hatchback to suit your preferences. To learn more about what you can expect from these Mazda3 used cars, read on.
Beyond being durable and well laid-out with extra storage compartments, you can find versions of this vehicle with available AWD. This gives you greater control of your car in slippery road conditions or uneven terrain. That being said, this car also knows how to have fun. You can also find used models with turbocharged engines to start your mornings with extra energy. Many used model trims come with luxuries like heated front seats, power-adjustable driver’s seats with memory functionality, an 8.8-inch center display, Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™ capabilities, and more.
While the latest version of this vehicle has a lot to offer, buying a used car can give you many similar qualities for a more competitive price. In addition, used cars tend to depreciate less in value than their newer counterparts and can be less to insure. While many people are turning to SUVs, smaller vehicles are advantageous in a lot of ways. They can more easily maneuver difficult traffic or snag parking spots that would be too tight for anything else. They are also generally more fuel efficient. To give you options to choose from, the Mazda3 comes in both sedan and hatchback forms. Passenger volume in both is approximately the same. The 2020 version of the sedan could get up to an EPA-estimated 27/36/30 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1 Meanwhile, the 2020 Mazda3 Hatchback, being a bit heavier, can get up to 26/35 (City/Highway).1
However, the biggest benefit of the hatchback is more cargo space. The 2020 sedan has just over 13 cubic feet of trunk space, while the 2020 hatchback can fit over 20 cubic feet with all the seats in use. If you fold the rear seats, you can increase this to over 47.
Both models have approximately the same expected life span and the same safety features on a year-by-year and trim-by-trim level. This means that any used model of this vehicle you find — regardless of body style — is likely to have safety features like adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-departure warnings, backup cameras, and more. It should be noted, however, that not all trim levels of the Mazda3 sedan had hatchback counterparts, and sedans hide the contents of their trunks better than hatchbacks, where you can see the cargo area through the windows.

This answer depends on your personal preferences. In general, comparable trims of the Mazda3 Sedan are a bit more competitively priced than their Mazda3 Hatchback counterparts for an equal amount of passenger volume. Some people also prefer the sleeker profile. However, a Mazda3 Hatchback will offer you more cargo room, and the design also makes it easier to load and unload items.
Mazda vehicles are incredibly reliable cars. If driven under normal conditions and well-maintained, you could still be driving a Mazda3 Sedan or Hatchback when it has 250,000 or even 300,000 miles on the odometer. Therefore, if you find a used vehicle with 100,000 miles on it or less, it will likely be a car that will serve you well for many, many years.
Mazda3 vehicles have used different names for their trims over the years, making this a difficult question. For example, the 2020 sedan version had the Base, Select, Preferred, and Premium, while the 2022 model has the 2.0, 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 Turbo, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus. Generally, upper-level trims have more luxuries, though.
